Africa@Scale 2020: Honouring a Global Champion with Aliko Dangote

Our host location – Malindi, Kenya

Malindi map for website.jpg

Malindi, located on the Kenyan coast, is a historically significant Swahili town that has played a pivotal role in the business and commercial history of Africa. As a major port city during the 14th and 15th centuries, Malindi was a bustling hub for trade between Africa, Asia, and the Middle East and home to the Malindi Kingdom, which was particularly notable for its early diplomatic relations with global powers. The town's Swahili heritage reflects a rich blend of African, Arab, and Persian influences, making it a fascinating melting pot of cultures and a center for commerce.

Today, Malindi's historical significance, combined with its beautiful coastal setting, makes it an ideal location for our summit to "reflect and connect."

Getting to Malindi is easy and convenient. The town is served by Malindi Airport, with regular flights from Nairobi and other major cities in Kenya. Alternatively, it's a scenic drive from Mombasa, which is well-connected by road and has an international airport. This accessibility ensures that attendees can travel to Malindi with ease, allowing them to focus on the enriching experience of the summit.
